About Us
Mary and Myra met as Girl Scout leaders in the late 1980s. In 1993, Myra and two other Girl Scout volunteers led a trip for women to the Boundary Waters. Mary's family had done a lot of camping in campgrounds but camping in the wilderness was new to her. She decided to go and try something different. Mary and Myra have been traveling to the Boundary Waters once a year ever since. As Myra and Mary discovered shared interests, both within and outside of Girl Scouting, their friendship grew. Their most recent shared interest is their desire to share their photographs, especially of nature, with others.
Mary lives with her husband in St. Paul, Minn., and has two adult daughters. She retired from the medical records field in August of 2015, volunteers with the Girl Scouts and is very active with her church community in addition to expanding her personal horizons by honing her photography skills.
Myra also lives with her husband in Roseville, Minn., and has two adult daughters. Myra's career as a naturalist has kept her outdoors, working at nature centers and teaching preschoolers and Girl Scouts. She is a BWCA canoe guide, a master skier and a professional ski instructor. All these have sparked a desire to capture nature’s wonders and share them in photographic form. Her lifelong pursuit is to inspire a desire to go outside and play.
Mary and Myra's images have been chosen to be included in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Friends of Maplewood Nature calendar.
